The above is an example of what you should see on either bag tag or printed on the bag itself. The sizing of the print should always be a minimum measurement of 3.9 inches or 100mm in length. Letters and Numerals must be at least 12mm tall, and have the UN Number printed on 2 panels or 2 labels on two opposite sides of the bag. The stacking symbol must be displayed with stack test load marked above it. A Stack Graphic/Symbol must be at a minimum of 100mm x 100mm. 

 

FIBC Construction: 13H3

13H1-13H4 states how the FIBC is constructed.

  • 13H1 is woven plastic without coating or liner.
  • 13H2 is woven plastic with coating and no liner.
  • 13H3 is woven plastic without coating but with liner.
  • 13H4 is woven plastic with coating and liner.

This all corresponds to what is needed for your packing group and what material is being packaged inside.

 

Packing Group: X, Y, or Z

(13H3/ Z / * / - / + / 2041 / 1002)

 

SDS sheets are needed to determine the packing group, because they vary based on each material and hazard level. This is noted in the second line of this example. They are categorized as:

  • X (PGI)
  • Y (PGII)
  • Z (PGIII)

If you are not sure what the packaging group should be you should always get your material analyzed so it can be properly rated.

 

Date of Manufacture

(13H3 / Z / * / - / + / 2041 / 1002)

 

The third column is the manufacturer date. This is a bit more self-explanatory, and it is just the month and year the FIBC was manufactured.

 

State Authorizing the Mark

The fourth column is the state authorizing the mark. In this column from Global-Pak you will mostly see “US” for the United States or “IND” for India.

 

Name or Symbol of Manufacturer

The fifth column is the name or symbol of manufacturer. When working with Global-Pak, you should always see our company in the column.


Stacking Test Load

(13H3 / Z / * / - / + / 2041 / 1002)

The sixth column is the stacking test load. The number shown in this marking must be converted into kilograms regardless of what measurement was used during testing. This is calculated during actual testing and the number represented here is the true load that was applied during the testing. On this test 4,500lbs was stacked on top of the bag for 24 hours which resulted in 2,041kgs. There are no decimals in the print, so it must be rounded down.

 

Maximum Permissible Gross Mass

(13H3 / Z / * / - / + / 2041 / 1002)

The last column is the maximum permissible gross mass. The number shown in this marking must be converted into kilograms regardless of what measurement was used during testing as well. This is how much weight can go into the bag plus the bag weight itself. This bag can weigh up to 2,209lbs or 1,002 kgs. in total and never anymore.
