WHAT ARE FOOD GRADE FIBCS?

Food grade bulk bags are made with resins meeting FDA standards with the intent of putting food products into the bags.  Food grade FIBCs are manufactured in a clean room facility that can be certified by a food safety standard like SQF, AIB, and/or BRC.

Food grade bags are suitable for food products, or potentially, products that go into food packaging - This is not the same thing as an “FDA approved” bulk bag – Please contact us for more info
  • Produced in a clean room with certificate recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) - SQF, FSSC 22000, or BRCClean room must follow strict Hepa filtration requirements
  • Bags follow stringent QC processes:
  • 100% metal detection
  • Lighted table inspection
  • Air washing
  • Heat or ultrasonic cut all fabric
  • Hot melt any loose materials
  • Production area and PE liners meet filtered air requirements
  • Workers must enter the facility through secure entry way and follow cleaning procedures before entering clean room

WHAT IS A FOOD GRADE CERTIFIED BULK BAG?

A bulk bag that is manufactured in a facility that has undergone an audit and is certified by a food safety standard like the American Institute of Baking (AIB), Safe Quality Foods (SQF), British Retail Consortium (BRC), etc.
 

DO YOUR FOOD GRADE BULK BAGS MEET FDA REQUIREMENTS?

Yes. All the resin used to make our bags meet the FDA requirements for food grade packaging.
 

What is SQF?

It stands for Safe Quality Food. It is a certification program to ensure food safety. SQF is a system to manage risks and ensure product safety.
 

Is Global-Pak SQF Certified?

Yes, Global-Pak has been SQF certified since 2013.
 

Do you or your suppliers have any 3rd party certifications?  

Yes, Global-Pak and it’s manufacturers both carry GFSI food grade certificates. Global-Pak is SQF certified and our food grade manufacturing partners carry vary GFI certificates such as BRC, SQF, and FSSC 22000. Documentation can be provided to customers upon request. Do I need a food grade bulk bag?

This is dependent on the product being packaged in the bulk bag. Food products for human consumption, or products being used to make food packaging (ex. food grade resins) are likely to require a food grade bag. Our team can help answer any food grade questions, so please or call 888-225-9828.
 

DO YOU HAVE A HACCP PLAN? 

Yes, our manufacturer has an HACCP plan in place for manufacturing bulk bags.
 

WHAT IS HACCP? 

Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, or HAACP, is a systematic preventive guideline to food safety.  HACCP is used in the food industry to identify potential food safety hazards, where actions, known as Critical Control Points (CCP's) can be taken to reduce or eliminate the risk of the hazards occurring.
